CableJive, You, Pintrest, <3

Pintrest has taken the web by storm. It turns out that sharing the things you love and finding out who else has the same interests is all we’ve ever wanted to do with the internet! What’s really awesome for companies like us, is that if people like your stuff they can “pin it” and add it to their board in an instant, to remember for later or share with their followers.

Recently I stumbled upon a “CableJive / Pintrest” Google search result. Having not ever been on Pintrest at the time, I was both intrigued and a little confused. Upon investigation, in a pleasant surprise, I found a ton of CableJive stuff had been pinned already! From our old duaLink, to the iStubz, and even our new ChromaSync & ProJive cables, it’s very cool to see people who are truly interested in what we do. So to those of you who took the time to pin a CableJive product, we thank you! You saw something in us that moved you to save it or share it, and for that we are honored. Same to all who pin our stuff moving forward. We love you all! Happy pinning!

Improvements To The CableJive Media Department

As a tech junkie and digital media enthusiast, few things capture my attention like new gear. So when we got the OK for certain upgrades to the CableJive media department (namely: camera, amongst other things), I couldn’t wait to dive in and put the days of shooting on mini-DV behind me forever! Not surprisingly, we were on the hunt for the best image quality at a reasonable price. With the high quality HD video current DSLRs can capture, and their dual-usability for various company-related photography, it seemed obvious to start looking there.

I had recent personal experience shooting with the Canon T2i and was blown away at the quality HD video it delivered. And for the money, it’s practically unmatched. Still, I continued my research, but quickly it became clear that the T2i was the camera for us. I shopped around for various deals, but as I have found in the past, B&H is rarely beaten. This was quickly affirmed again in this case, and an order for a T2i w/ EF-S 18-55mm IS Zoom Lens Kit (along with a few other accessories) was placed. A few days later, a big ole’ box arrived in the office, and a brand new T2i was in my hands!

Shortly thereafter, I began pre-production on a new video series featuring the dockStubz. That video, which christened CableJive’s T2i, and is the first entry into the series “dockStubz: The Problem Solver” will be available for your viewing pleasure within the next week or so. Stay tuned for the finished product!

Spotted In The Wild: dockXtender

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. At CableJive, we love solving problems. It’s one of the biggest reasons we do what we do. So anytime a customer uses our products to improve their setups, we love to hear about it! And living in this modern, visual age, we love to SEE it even more. So if a CableJive product is making your life a little easier, and the mood strikes you, send us a pic or two at info@cablejive.com. They just may end up here.

Like today’s pic from Rob, one of our customers from across the pond in the UK. He got a dockXtender because he wanted to be able to control his iPod and hold it in his hands comfortably while it was still fully connected to his speaker dock. A simple enough function that is one of the more popular reasons people love the dockXtender (myself included). He was so happy with it, that he sent this picture along to show us. Thanks Rob!

dockStubz helping out at the 2011 Tokyo Marathon!

Joseph Tame describes himself as “a big Apple fan that likes to push their products to the limit.” As it turns out, he doesn’t just talk a good game.

This time last year he grabbed a few iPhones, external batteries, and a Wi-Fi router, and headed off to run the 2010 Tokyo Marathon. He then proceeded to broadcast his entire 26-mile trek live with more than 13,000 people tuning in by the end of the race. Finishing what was his first full marathon in 5 hours and 7 minutes, Tame may not have won, but he had successfully broken new ground for live web broadcasting, making national news in the process.

For 2011, using a new custom rig (pictured), Joseph is going even bigger. In addition to various other upgrades to this year’s broadcast, Wahoo Fitness provided him with a heart monitor which will post live updates to the website as he goes. This particular feature is where the dockStubz comes in to lend a helping hand.

The sensor used by Wahoo’s heart monitor connects to the iPhone’s 30-pin connector. With that plugged in, he would not be able to use any external batteries to power the phone. For this kind of broadcast, in a marathon that takes over 5 hours to run, he needs to be able to connect additional power to his iPhone. Using the dockStubz, Joseph will be able to have the heart monitor sensor connected to it’s 30-pin connector, while injecting the additional power he needs via it’s mini-USB port on the side, allowing him to add an extra level of depth to his broadcast, while ensuring he’ll have to power to do so.

As a company, we pride ourselves in making products that solve unique issues, and we’re thrilled that we were able to help Joseph’s rig meet its potential. We wish him all the best for his broadcast as he takes it to the next level!

To follow Joseph’s journey, go to http://tm2011.com/. And don’t forget to tune in this Saturday night, Feb 26th @ 6 PM EST, to watch the live broadcast!
