dualCharge Now Powers iPads!

Image

Word on the street is, the iPad is pretty popular these days. Which is why I’m happy to announce that our dualCharge has been updated for iPad support! Now charge an iPad, or two smaller USB powered electronic devices (iPod, iPhone, Android, Blackberry, etc) at the same time with one powerful plug. It’s the perfect solution for all your home-charging needs!

These updated dualCharges are available now.

New CableJive Goodies Just In Time For Christmas!

A couple new additions snuck into the CableJive lineup just in time to find a cozy spot in your stockings! Here’s a quick breakdown of each:

Sumo

Sumo is another great addition to our cable management solutions by BlueLounge. A slick-looking weighted block with high-tech Japanese micro-suction pads (non-adhesive) & creative design, it’s like the paper weight of-the-future (in this future, cables have replaced paper as the object on your desk most likely to fall off annoyingly). Special grooves underneath allow you to tuck your cables in, and hold the connection-ends waiting at the ready to serve you, without damaging them. Perfect for keeping your hi-tech work area clean-looking and useable, and if there’s one thing today’s computer work-spaces need, it’s good feng-shui! Sumo comes in both White and Black, and is available now for $11.95.

headphoneXtender

After all we’ve done for extending the iPhone’s 30-pin connector out of hard-to-reach areas (see: dockXtender & dockStubz), it was really a no-brainer when we realized we were ignoring “that other port” on the iPhone (which is also conveniently used on every other audio playing device of the last few decades or so). With the huge spike in popularity of heavy-duty cases like Otterbox and Lifeproof, it’s getting harder and harder to find a case that will protect your device but not prevent you from plugging your favorite headphones in! Why slim 1/8″ housings aren’t standard, we don’t know. But at least we can help!

Enter our new headphoneXtenders! These simple little guys are slim enough to fit into any headphone port opening, allowing you to plug your favorite headphones into all of your devices! They’re 8cm long, and available in both 3-pin and 4-pin (iPhone mic compatible) models right now from $7.95.

The New dockXtender Basic vs. The (Premium) dockXtender

This week we introduced a new member to the dockXtender cable family: the dockXtender basic. Whether or not you’ll want to buy our premium dockXtender cable or the new dockXtender basic will likely be determined by the differences between the two cables. To make this decision easier for you, I’ve outlined the main differences below:

Price & Lengths
Premium: $25.95 (2 foot), $31.95 (6 foot)
Basic: $15.95 (19 inches)

Functionality
Premium: Passes through all 30-pin functionality
Basic: Passes through only audio, USB sync + charging, and device control
(*Basic also not compatible with older FireWire powered speaker docks and systems)

Male Connector Teeth (A topic of interest for some customers, but may not matter as much to others)
Premium: “Passive” locking teeth
Basic: “Button-Activated” locking teeth

Available Colors
Premium: Black only
Basic: Black and White

I hope this helps make the decision a bit easier for our customers. As always, should you have any questions, feel free to email us at service@cablejive.com.

dualCarCharge Now Updated For iPad Compatibility!

If you need a quality car charger for all your mobile devices and don’t want to spend an arm and a leg, we like to think the dualCarCharge to be one of the best options out there. It turns your singular DC power / cigarette lighter port into two female USB ports for your charging pleasure all for under $15 bucks. And I’m happy to announce that it just got even better (or should we say, juicier).

As of today, all our dualCarCharge adapters have been upgraded to provide 2 Amps of power, which is enough output to charge an iPad. This gives you the option to charge one iPad or two less power-consuming devices (iPods, iPhones, Blackberries, Android phones, etc) at a time in your car, all for the same price. Thus making it, dare we say, the perfect car trip companion! Check it out for yourself if you don’t believe us.

Problem Solving – The dockXtender, iPad, and iHealth Dock

Recently, we’ve been receiving sporadic complaints about the dockXtender not allowing the iPad to work with the iHealth BP3 Blood Pressure Dock. After a few different reports, weren’t getting a clear picture of the issue. We knew there was something odd going on, so we decided to order one ourselves to try. Thankfully, we received our iHealth dock, and it worked just fine with the dockXtender and both the iPad and iPhone. There’s only one catch: it does not work in landscape mode.

Considering the iHealth dock literally docks your device in portrait mode, it appears the developers were not anticipating that their device would be used with our cable, allowing for landscape mode to be a reality while using their system. The good news is that as long as you keep your iPad in portrait mode, it should all work just fine. In the picture above, I turned the iPad upside-down, which keeps the app in portrait mode, but allows access to the 30-pin connector for the dockXtender (using the Nest as the iPad stand). It is possible that the iHealth developers may correct this issue in a future update, but for now it’s good to know that there is a simple solution to this issue.

This seems like a good time to remind everyone that the dockXtender provides the physical connection to allow your iPad to connect to devices and accessories in a multitude of ways that are not possible without it. However, it is important to remember that just because you can connect the two, it does not mean the iPad will be perfectly compatible with the accessory you’re connecting it to (which would be an issue between your accessory and the iPad, unaffected by the dockXtender). The good news is that our 60-day return policy means you’re welcome to give the dockXtender a try in any of these situations, and simply return it to us if it doesn’t work out. Simple.

Thanks Steve

Solemn mood at CableJive today thinking about the passing of a legend. Like so many others, reflecting on the impact Steve Jobs had on the industry and on us personally. I’ve been a fan of Apple since I was very young, first hacking on an Apple II for hours at a time at the local public library.

We will miss you Steve, your example and passion will continue to be an inspiration as we march forward.
